Right now all non-essential businesses are closed, hair salon being no exceptions. Caring for your hair extensions during this unpredictable time can be a scary thought, but fear no more, we are here to provide you with a few simple steps that will keep your extensions looking radiant, healthy and beautiful until your next salon visit

Brushing your extensions

Whilst plenty of brushing will keep your extensions in good condition and stop them from getting tangled, you can make a small change to your brush, which will ensure your extensions stay in great condition. Our top recommendation for brushing, is to use Our own Longhair soft bristle brush. This will ensure the hair does not snag or catch and will leave the hair shiny and in optimum condition.

When brushing, always begin at the ends of the hair and slowly move up the head as you work through. Before going to bed, we’d always advise you to give your locks a good brush though, segregating parts as you go to ensure you reach every section, then secure in a loose braid when going to sleep.

Cleansing your extensions

Before you begin the cleansing process, ensure your extensions have been thoroughly brushed, then begin to soak with warm water. Here’s one of our hottest extensions tips, and if you digest any of what we’re saying today, ensure it is this – do not turn your head upside down when cleansing, but wash from the crown down.

When cleansing, use your normal amount of shampoo for the root area and gently massage in small circles over the scalp. This will cleanse both your natural hair and your luscious extensions. There is no need to scrub the mid lengths and ends of your hair/extensions, these will be cleansed sufficiently when you are rinsing out your shampoo. When rinsing out, pay particular attention to the bond area of your extensions to ensure all product has been removed.

Conditioning your extensions

Just like all hair, extensions need to be conditioned and if we are honest, this is most definitely the element we look forward to most when washing our hair. When applying conditioner, only apply this to the mid lengths and ends of your hair and treat yourself to a gentle massage to ensure you cover all necessary strands. Conditioner should be left on for a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 10 minutes. Once conditioned, thoroughly rinse with warm water and before you turn the shower off, run your fingers through the mid length and ends of your hair so you can be sure all the product has been washed away. Do not apply conditioner to the scalp or extensions bonds.

Towel drying your extensions

Before you wrap your locks up in a towel, be sure to squeeze any access water from the hair. When wrapping your hair up, don’t wrap too tightly. When you are ready to remove your towel, gently pat to remove any moisture from the hair, paying particular attention that you avoid rubbing the scalp and extension bonds.

While your hair is wet, take your trusty soft bristle brush and gently begin to brush your hair starting at the ends, moving to mid lengths and finally to the roots.

Drying & styling your extensions

Now that you have a little more time on your hands, you may fancy leaving your locks to dry naturally. If you want to speed up the process and dry your hair using a blow-dry, use a low heat and your soft bristled brush to get to all strands. Once dry, style your locks into a style that suits you, but remember, 100% human hair and memory hair should only be heated up to 160 degrees.

If you are a night time hair washer, do not go to sleep with wet or damp hair, this may cause matting to both your extensions and natural hair.

Loosing extensions

Your extensions may be ready for reset at this stage, so please keep every single strand or tape if u loose any. Brush them and put them into the bag. We will try to reuse them when we are back to work.

Please feel free to message me if u are concerned about anything 🙂
